What is the name of your state? KY

My father named 4 surviving beneficiaries to equally share his estate. A year after my father's death, one of the beneficiaries (my brother) died. Does my brother's share of my father's estate (25%) get divided equally between the other 3 beneficiaries, or must it be paid to his estate?

Your brother's share goes to his estate. If he did not have a will, it is dispersed by intestate succession statutes of his state. If a will is present, the will controls.
