What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

If I am married but have not been living with my spouse for 10 plus years, is it legal and binding if I take out an insurance policy and name my boyfriend as the beneficiary? Could my spouse contest this or is this something that is legally binding and would go to him without a fight.

You can name any one you want as a beneficiary. They (the beneficiary) may have to sign the application depending on the type of policy you purchase. Your husband will have no claim to the policy or any proceeds from it.
