What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

My question is: My husband recently passed away. He has a life insurance policy that his ex-wife is named as beneficiary if she does not send a death certificate what happens to the policy if it is not claimed by the beneficiary?

When did the divorce take place?

Prior to 2001, Missouri law would have revoked the beneficiary designation. In 2001, Missouri changed its statutes to state that such a revocation does not apply to life insurance policies.

If the ex-wife is still entitled to the proceeds, then the life insurance company probably will not pay the proceeds to anybody else.
