We are freshmen in this country... Still heavily learning to conduct business with 'aborigens'.
We had sent an invitation to our Conference, and the US company agreed to participate. We didn't sign any contracts, only used their oral confirmation. In order to encourage them, we had purchased air tickets to the performers and paid for their nights in a luxury hotel in advance.
They didn't show up and even didn't bother to announce/explain their absence. Eventually they surfaced, but are refusing to reimburse for the tickets or at least send us them back to process refund.
Is there any way of enforcement assuming that this is a good standing US company (a new private equity fund) with bank accounts, etc.?
