What is the name of your state? California

Hello thread readers of the FreeAdvice Forums. First of all, i would like to thank you for your time and many more thanks for your assistance.

and i apologise if my thread is on the incorrect section of this forum.

Here is my situation. i have obtained a black BMX bicycle manufactured by DB. (diamond back) and the existance of certain laws applied to me as an individual.

Is it true that California state law requires personel under the age of 18 wear a helmet?

and if this is true, are they required to wear a helmet on public sidewalks?

from personal findings, i have found most of the bicyclists without helmets.

and i have also been told that Police do not have much concern for non helmeted riders and mostly give warnings and what not. or something.

again i'd like to thank you for your time and for your assistance.:)

The vehicle code requires anyone under the age of 18 to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, rollerskates, roller blades, a scooter, a moped... whatever. And yes, sidewalks are included.

21212. (a) A person under 18 years of age shall not operate a
bicycle, a nonmotorized scooter, or a skateboard, nor shall they wear
in-line or roller skates, nor ride upon a bicycle, a nonmotorized
scooter, or a skateboard as a passenger, upon a street, bikeway, as
defined in Section 890.4 of the Streets and Highways Code, or any
other public bicycle path or trail unless that person is wearing a
properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet that meets the standards
of either the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or
the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), or
standards subsequently established by those entities. This
requirement also applies to a person who rides upon a bicycle while
in a restraining seat that is attached to the bicycle or in a trailer
towed by the bicycle.

UGH. well... thank you for your help.

quick question-is there an age limit on this forum that an individual must reach in order to own an account and post on this website?

basically, are you telling me you don't know and giving me an alternative to find my answer?
Basically on this board, we have a teach a man to fish theory... when the answer is readily available and right under your nose, perhaps you should do the research. You are also encouraged to use the search function on here to see if maybe your question is already answered.

Heck... the TOS came up when you REGISTERED... what did you do? Just agree?
