What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? District of Columbia

Good morning, and thanks so much for your help and advice.

I was given a parking ticket by DC police (maybe Capitol police, but I don't think so), for locking my bicycle to a lightpost near the Capitol.

On the citation there is no vehicle license number, of course. It does not say it was a bicycle. There is no street address given for the violation. The information on the citation includes the date and time, my name and address and license number, a violation code and hand-written description ("parked on sidewalk") , the officers name and badge number, and my signature and date.

Without a location noted, this ticket is invalid, yes? All I need do is contest that lack of information?

Thanks kindly for your help!

Imagine how it would go at a hearing...

Officer "tamarinda was parked on a sidewalk."
tamarinda "Sure I was...but where?"
Officer "I have the location in my notes."
tamarinda "Oh, poop."
