i am getting all my ducks in a row in filing my bk7. i am filing my 1999 & 2000 taxes and i think i owe a few thousand for 2000 taxes. will i be able to get this discharged along with my 50 thousand credit card debt? i do not own anything and have been unemployed since july. thank you for your response in advance!

I had that same question, and found the answer right here, in this forum, at the f.a.q. button.....it is titled "what happens to my federal tax debts?"

chapter 7: it's in the 155,000 previously asked questions at the header, not in the faq. Below is one response thread that I found. Type 'bankruptcy' in the question search box that will appear under the legal forms search box once you have clicked on the 155,000 previously asked questions.
There are a gazillion threads to follow. below is one response thread that I found, and your answer is in the 3rd sentence, after the ..
(by the way, I think the interest and penalites may be dischargable, but not the tax itself--look for that in the postings, too--I am not an attorney and I do not know the answer for sure. )

Offer in compromise is when you owe so much that if you lived to be 500 they will not get all their money.Sometimes the taxpayer dies and ithe OIC is made to the estate. They WILL get it from YOU.. Declaring BK does not wipe out your tax debt. Start by cutting up your credit cards and making payment arrangement with those banks.Good luck.
