What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OR

"Within 10 feet of a fire hydrant. Exemptions under ORS 811.560 (Exemptions from prohibitions on stopping, standing or parking) (2) and (4) to (7) are applicable to this subsection."

I received a citation for violating the above traffic code in Oregon. The hydrant in question is not at the curb, it is more than 10 feet into my yard. Does this matter? Is the code interpreted literally? Thanks for your help.

If it is 10 feet away from where you were parked, I would give it a shot. It's not the intent of the law (the intent is to give 20' of clear space for the firefighters to get the large bore hoses to the hydrant), but the statutory construction should apply.
