Borrowed money to a friend HELP

I am from Seattle Washington and I've borrowed $2000 to a friend and on the check I wrote borrow for two weeks... Its been over 2 mounth and I need the money but he keeps telling me He dont have it yet call me back.. I am just wondering if I can sue him. And if yes then what do I need and how much can I sue him for..

Do you mean you lent somebody $2000 and they won't pay you back? And you wrote on the check that is a loan? Yes, I believe you should be able to sue, but it's probably a crap shoot as to what the judge will decide. I'd say you'd win but I've seen a lot of cases like these lose because the check alone may not be enough evidence of a loan. Did you make the other person sign a promissory note? Is there any other proof it's a loan, like anything on paper? Does the borrower say he doesn't owe the money or that he just doesn't have it to pay you back yet? Do you have the cleared check in your possession or can you obtain it?
