I work in PA, recently owner of company had surgery and is on pain killers. It was made known by owner's step son who works at the company that the owner was not dealing well with the surgery and was delusional afterwards.
The owner has recently fired (in his hospital room a week after his surgery) a valued and well liked employee. Set this employee up by monitoring his computer use (which policy stated was not being done by employer) and also fabricated lies about his poor work habits. Has since put out company wide email defaming this employee.
This has caused company wide moral problem. Other key employees are now leaving as result of this.
I am worried I will be set up next as I am a known friend of the fired employee and friend of ones who are leaving. I am documenting all emails and conversations with owner.
Do I have any legal recourse if I am fired based on the fact that the owner is on heavy medication and has acted outside the norm since his surgery.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
