My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: CALIFORNIA

My husband bought a couch 2 years ago, he was making the payments the first couple of months till it broke.
about 2 months ago he got a letter from the court saying that he was going to get his wages garnished if he didnt pay.
he ended up going to the store where he purchased and spoke to them and yes, it was true. His boss also got the letter, so his boss let him borrow the money to pay the couches off in full. He got a recipt from the store saying that the amount has been paid in full.
about a month later he got another letter saying that because he failed to pay his wages were to be garnished on said day.
my husband went back to the store to speak to the female in charge and she said she would go speak to the court about how he had paid it off. Ok, 1 week before the said day, he got another letter reminding him that his wages were going to be garnished. My husband then went back and spoke to that same lady who responded with "im to busy, im not going to drive all the way to the court to drop off paperwork for only one person" my husband then said "theyre going to ganish them next week if you dont go this week" her response was "ill try". (he nor i have proof she said that) anyway the week finally came and sure enough they took $180.00
its been 3 weeks since and its been the same amount theyve taken out which is $540.00 my husband gets paid weekly! and he is the only one in our household working! its really screwing with our finances! He paid off the full amount of the couches 2 months ago! Is there anything we can do? my husbands boss is even getting involved because he 1. let my husband borrow the money to fully pay them off, 2. has let him leave work a couple hours early to go fix the problem 3.his boss has to pay a fee every check to allow the garnished wages go on another check. any advice is greatly appreciated.
sorry if i posted in the wrong category! Thank You

Has your husband gone to court to show the couch has been paid in full? Has he gone to the store demanding they return his money?

If there is a court-ordered garnishment, the employer CANNOT legally "not" garnish your husband's wages; they must wait until there's a new court order, or another court document stopping the garnishment.
