What is the name of your state? California
My 16 yr old son bought a truck from a "fly by night" type dealer and drove it less than 10 miles and it threw a rod sitting in our driveway. we did buy it "as is"
is there any recourse??

I'm not an attorney but one will jump in and give you more legal knowledge shortly. What kind of contract was involved with your son signing? How long after that signing did your son notify the seller? This might help in answering you better.

There was no "contract" so to speak, we bought the truck with cash. It seems that the dealer is at least interested in what is happening with the truck and has spoken with our mechanic and he (the mechanic) seems to think that they may at least help with the cost of repairs.
The head gasket was out of the truck when it was sold to us and water got into the cylinder and the pressure caused the rod to bend.
thank you for your interest.
Ill keep you posted.
