my friend and i entered into an employment contract to deliver newspapers 4/13/01. we have seperate contracts, but it is an implied requirment that we work together as a team. since then we have complied with this contract. we are bonded for a sizable amount of money which we will owe if we quit without thirty days notice, given on the first of the month and effective the first if the next month. however, we are seriously considering a breach of contract by quitting without notice because of the endless harassment and defamation we are subjected to. we have recieved numerous harassing phone calls (they are to notify us by phone of any mistake we have made, but that is the end of it - i have been lied to, condescended to, and just plain harassed), a few highly insulting letters, and i have on two occasions overheard conversations insulting my work ethic, job performance and character (statements that i am "too stupid to figure out how to deeliver a paper" and that i would try to "worm my way in" ahead of other carriers (otherwise known as not waiting my turn). last night we were unable to work due to conditions beyond our control, and recieved a call in which my friend was cursed at and then hung up on. it seems that everyone we have to deal with has a personal problem with us for no reason. we will not continue to work under these conditions, so i hope we have some recourse here.
