i've had damage to my car, more than once, i live in a apt complex, i've told the landlord every time, i asked to shorten my lease she said no, can i break my lease for these reasons, and not have to pay the rest of the lease?" the damage to my car has cost me over $400. I want out, she seems not to care about the safety of her tenants.

GEEZ what kind of damage to your car?

Thats what auto insurance is for, have you filed a claim with your insurance company?

Was it a tree falling, or a breakin? are you driving some hot little car everyone wants to steal?

You have to give more details, if there is a rash of breakins and the landlord has been notified by numerous tenants and the police, then refuses to install any security measures, gates, or a rent a cop......then you would have some reason to break the lease...

But if you are the only one....then someone doesnt like you

I don't think if someone doesn't like me is an issue here, the fact of the matter is you don't go around bashing someone windows out just for the heck of it...or slashing their tires, I filed a police report and everything, and there have been more stuff like some guy was trying to steal the bra off of it, he was caught, and said the landlord said he could do it because the car was abandoned. and no it's not some little hot car everyone wants, it's what i call my only transportation, all i want to know, is this a reason i can break my lease?? i don't feel safe on this property.

I wonder if you've read what it says above this Reply screen? "... please be CONSIDERATE, RESPECTFUL and POLITE."

You are none of these. Who are you anyway? Why don't you find somewhere else to go hassle people? Your comments serve no beneficial purpose on this board.

Is there a BOARD MODERATOR that can do something about this person???

LOOK here is the story.....

EVERYONE wants to get out of a lease, and MOST are trying to scam the landlord becuase they are BROKE!

UNLESS you ask these types of questions how do we know, when she gives us so little information to give her a good answer??

So here is a good answer NOW that she has explained it better...

Since you have proof of this police reports etc, send a letter to the owner stating all of this and that the Landlord has violated the lease by not providing the required security measures on his property, and that you do not feel safe and you are giving a 30 day notice and you will be out by March 31st.

But be prepared to be sued for the remaining time on your lease, and personally with that much evidence a judge isnt going to side with the landlord.
