I have a year lease I have just signed. We, however, in the process of building a house. Also the agent for the landlord has lost his licsence to preform any renting, selling, or leasing of property as of April 1, 2001. (the same day the new lease becomes effective) Is there any way I can legally break the lease after 6 months?

NO...your deal is always with the landlord, even if he uses an agent....

Unless the landlord agress to end the lease early YOU are responsible to pay rent till it ends, or find a suitable tenant to take over the lease,or to sign a new one, with the approval of the landlord.

Instead you would mail the rent check CERTIFIED mail return reciept to the owner.
