in Arizona is it legal to break an apartment lease when you have signed a purchase contract for a new house? The lease in question has about 4 months left on it after the house will be complete and the landlord is refusing to break the lease. they are also stating that all security and cleaning deposits will be Forfeited. They also state that i am liable for any months rent that there is no tenant in the apartment if i break the lease. how can i be sure that i will not be paying rent on an apartment that may be rented? Is there any recourse in this situation? i was under the impression that the lease could be broken in Arizona if you are purchasing a house.
