I have a case where I had a verbal ageement with a business owner. Two employees (contractors) were supposed to take over the business management and with time the owner will pass over the business to the two persons. I'm one of the employees, about two weeks ago by chance I found out that the other partner has been making other arrangements with the original owner and the business license is in his name. He asked me to give him the key from the building. I have been working all this time and reinvested my earnings for the business. When I ask him why was he asking me for the key in front of a witness, he said the business is closing and everybody will have to take their things and turn in the keys. This is the first time I'm hearing about closing the business. I have been having a hard time at work because he has been making me feel uncomfortable but he has not giving me any other information. What should I do? Is the Agreement valid? Now I do not have a job and I was not notified of the changes I have appointments and bills to pay.https://forum.freeadvice.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

As always, verbal agreements are generally binding -- but proving that the agreement exists, and what it covers, is oftentimes very difficult or impossible. You should talk with a local attorney, who can review what evidence you might have and advise you accordingly.
