My place of employment recently had a fire, due to circumstances, company is transfering me from Orlando, FL to Tampa, FL. Notified apartment complex was told would need written notice and would be charged one months rent, $620.00. Upon arriving home note was taped to door that stated would be responsible for $620.00 termination fee, partial months rent for Feb. and forfeit my security deposit of $620.00 plus a $200.00 pet deposit, totaling $1,888.43. Have already found new housing in Tampa signed lease there only have about two weeks to get everything in order and move. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you

I would sue the landlord, why? This is an emergency and NOT something you caused.

The landlord is being VERY unreasonable in this matter

I would immediately see a lawyer to put an end to this KRAP!

You are MAY be liable for Feb rent, if they dont rent itout asap, It is Illegal to charge 2 preople full rent on an apartment, and a termination fee...for what your business burning down ..... you will probably lose the pet fee...

So so spending a few bucks on a Landlord/Tenant lawyer to try and not pay such rediculous charges would be worth it.

And since orlando is not that far from tampa, having a court date would make you feel better because i cant believe a judge would allow them to screw you like this.
