My fiance and I moved to Westminster, CO from Florida in Jan. 2001. We signed a 6 month lease on Jan. 9. I am an apprentice powerlineman. I was under the impression that I would be working in the Denver area (within 70 mile radius). Instead I was placed in Falcon, CO on Jan. 29, 85 miles from my home. I am used to traveling to and from diferent jobs(within 70 miles from home) or even staying in hotels, for 2-3 week jobs-longer if I'm reimbursed for the hotel. I work out of a union hall and being an apprentice cannot ask to be transferred. I have been traveling to and from work daily, 170 miles. The company I have been placed with will not reimburse me for a hotel. I am working 10 hour days and driving 3-4 hours. I am getting very tired and wearing out my vehicle fast. I will be at this job for 9-12 more months. I would like to move closer to work. Is there any way I can break my lease without having to pay any penalties and without loosing my deposit?

UMMMMM mannnn what is your problem with landlords. huh?

I dont get you people, you bittch and moan about travelling for a job, then expect the Landlord who has NOTHING to do with your situation to BAIL you out, and take a loss.

NO MAN......its your JOB and your UNION that has to pay you to relocate, or pay for a hotel room if they dont then you have to....

So has the fiance gotta JOB yet?

Now that i finsihed venting.......

and now you understand the Landlord had NOTHING to do with your situation.

YOU must always assume you are going to lose your deposit if you break a lease UNLESS youhelp the landlord find another suitable tenat to re rent it and the landlord LOSES NO RENT MONEY, then he should give you back most of your security he can deduct for advertisements and costs to re rent.

SO your finace MUST allow the landlord to show the apartment even if you are NOT there so you can get someone to sign a lease starting on April 1st., then you will be ok.

Read your lease carefully, there may be a clause to terminate if you are transferred more than X miles away. If not, buck-up man!!! It's only a six month lease!!! Your 1/3 of the way there already, just bide your time and see it through, then you can move wherever you want.
