What is the name of your state? Laguna Beach, CA

Hi,

I have been in the states for over 18 months on an R1 Visa. I had been with my girlfriend for that whole duration before we got married three weeks ago. I have been well informed that changing my status from non-immigrant alien to conditional/temporary resident should be no problem. I have all the necessary forms, but my question is...

How long after our wedding do I have to submit the relevant forms?

Is there a specific time limit i.e a month or six weeks?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yours

Provided you have all the requisite forms and supporting documentation, you can file for your permanent residence right after the valid marriage.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if I may be of further assistance to you in this matter.

Thanks Lana.....

But is there a minimun amount of time within which the forms need to be filed? I.E Do I need to file them within a certain time period after the wedding?

Thanks again!

No, there is not, but since I would presume that you want to get the process going as soon as possible, you will file all the paperwork as soon as you have it all together.
