i recently accepted and left a job for the following reasons and wonder if i have a course of action:
1. promised health insurance not delivered.
2. paychecks bounced.
3. company sorely misrepresented. represented that co. very stable and had excellent references (clients very happy). this not true.
although i could have researched the company better i took the owner's word. i know that if i had lied about my skills, or lied on my application, i would have been held responsible. are employers liable for misrepresentation as well?
the owner has also been in prison for drug trafficking and forgery. are there background checks done when one starts their own business? i don't feel as though this person has the right to treat employees the way that i have been treated and yet i have talked to other former employees who experienced the same problems. can an employer have an infinite number of claims against them and still remain in business?
