I tried posting this before, but must've goofed up somewhere. About two and a half years ago, my husband and a friend built and sold a spec house. As individuals, not a corporation! I've heard there is a time limit for corporations that have dissolved to be sued for product liability (six years, I think). Is there any such thing for selling a home as an individual? We do still carry contractor's liability insurance -- must we carry this for the rest of our lives while we wait for this house to blow up and we get sued? What if we sell our own home (which we general contracted ourselves) -- what is the seller of a home liable for? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
