What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
I was driving on the Mass Pike in a lot of traffic in the middle lane. The car in front of me slowed down all of a sudden, and I went into the right lane and sped up a little because there were cars in that lane also. Then I saw that the reason the car in front of me slowed down because there was a state police cruiser on the right side of the road. He followed me and stopped me. When I gave him my license he said that I have the same birthday as he did except I was 2 years older. He said that he used to work in a town right next to mine. He also said that he doesn't stop anyone on the Mass Pike going 85 or under, but I was going 86. After talking about himself for a few minutes, and acting very friendly/ flirty, he went to his car and came back and gave me a ticket. On the ticket he put lidar estimated 86
I appealed, and in a two minute hearing before a Clerk, said what happened except didn't mention what he said to me and his flirting. I thought it would be enough. The police officer present looked at the ticket and read it like a story, and when I questioned how one could come up with an estimation of 86 with lidar, the clerk very quickly repeated a combination of what I said and what the police officer said. I appealed and asked for a copy of the tape of the hearing. I was given a
date 2 weeks away, before the judge at which time the officer who gave me the ticket will be present. I asked if I would receive the tape in time, and was told that they have no control over that. So I asked for a date further away so that I would make sure that I would be able to get the tape, which I paid $55.00 for but the clerk would not change the date. So now the date is here with no tape for me to use at the appeal hearing. Does anybody have any suggestions of how to deal with this bureaucracy? Thanks in advance.
