auction gone bad

What is the name of your state? MS

I recently sold a 55 car on an auction. Someone purchased this car after talking with us several days and nights about it. We had told this person everything we knew about the car, and him having the understanding that this particular, even though it did run, car had been sitting up in an enclosed building for 4 years.
We spent money to have it looked at and fluids changed in the car for this gentleman.
Now he is claiming the car is not what was expected and wants partial or full refund on the car. The car did need some tlc and he knew this, and he also knew he wasn't getting a fully restored automobile.
He is talking to a lawyer about this to get a case against us on this issue.
We did talk with him and out of the goodness of our hearts we agreed to help him out a little and refund him $1000.00. But he wants much more than that or the whole amount.
We feel he is having buyers remorse and hates now he spent the amount of money he did on the car, though he was the one doing the bidding on this auction.
