What is the name of your state? Ohio and Colorado
I bought a used car in Colorado Springs 2 years ago that was stolen property at the time of purchase. It took the police 2 years to figure this out, but they eventually tracked me down and took my car. It is no longer mine and rightfully belongs to the insurance company that paid the original claim.
I am currently trying to get the dealership that sold me the car to reimburse me for the original purchase price. They insist that they did not know the car was stolen property and will only consider refunding the current Kelly Blue Book value for the vehicle. After taxes, this is $8,000.00 less than i paid for it 2 years ago. I would have been better off leasing a new car.
My main point if that the vehicle was not theirs to sell, which voids the original contract.
Do I have a case?
