To make this short as possible, I have rented a duplex for 2 1/2 yrs. I had an unexpected stroke at 30 something. I recieved a message the owners wanted to have the house inspected. I agreed and set a time. Two weeks later I was scheduled for surgery and the owners informed me they wanted to sell. I replied that I wanted to buy, however my medical condition was life threatening and It would be after my recovery. They agreed. As a first time buyer, they were kind and referred me to thier lender. I was also told a average price for the house. After meeting the lender and presenting items he requested, he told me to call in a few days. I did. He was still waiting on an answer. A week later the owner called me to tell me that I wasn't approved and the lender no longer worked there. He was escorted out. She said she wanted to list the house with a realtor, however I would be 1st option buyer. I agreed. The realtor called the next morning and insisted on viewing the house. She arrived and realized the house was not viewable. I have up-graded with no reimbursments and was trying to complete some painting. She stated that I was the 1st option buyer. She returned that afternoon to show the house. I ask her for a legal contract proving I was 1st option. She said sorry, it's 1st come 1st serve. I was out of town the next day. She stated that I was just around the corner. The next morning as I entered the shower, the owners were banging on my door for a while. I hired a realtor and signed an as is contract just to stop this harrassment and give myself time to find another lender. That evening I had a 10 day notice to vacate on my door even though my rent was paid through the month. The owners realtor has made threats to my lending company, told lies to the owner and has tried to intimidate my realtor. She stated that I would have to buy at the asking price though it probably wouldn't appraise at that amount. I just received the appraisal and it is over the asking amount. My realtor assured me that it would not appraise for the asking amount and then we would negotiate with the inspection document and my receipts for the up-grade.I have certainly learned a valuable lesson. I am single with no resources and no where to go. Just returning to work from medical leave and short on finances. Trying to keep my home. It seems like illegal actions have taken place. What can I do?
