My Stepmother died recently leaving my brother and I equal shares in the house that I shared with her. I am still living there and my brother wants his half. He does not want rent, he wants to sell. I would like to be able to buy him out, but he thinks we are going to get some outrageous price for this home. What are the laws concerning the determination of the value of this home? Are we to have it evaluated by an inspector? Who chooses the inpector or should we both get our own? What recourse do I have if he won't accept my offer? What rights does he haveto force me to sell?
