What is the name of your state? Louisiana

Hello!

My girlfriend of several years recently purchased a $2500 television for "us." Unfortunately, we've decided to part ways and end our relationship. Since she bought the TV, she wants to be reimbursed if I'm to keep it - which I intend to. My question is, to protect myself against any potential spiteful recourse that may erupt at some point in the future, how can I go about protecting myself having her come back months later saying that I never gave her money. Would a simple hand-written or typed receipt suffice? Notarized?

She gave me the receipts for the purchase of the TV, if that matters at all.

Thanks for any tips.

Jeff.

Pay her by check.

Have her sign a note.

Better still-

Tell her to keep the stupid TV and use the "reimbursement money" to buy a new one of a better model.
