What is the name of your state? Washington

When I look at a website and it says there product is copyright 2004, does that mean there copyright has expired? Also what are the advantages of copyrighting a business name or business slogan? Should I do it if I have a small business?

No, that's just the year when the copyright starts.

Names and short phrases are not copyrightable subject matter. Instead, they are the subject of trademark law. Developing a trademark, or "brand," is something you might want to consider as part of your business plan.

When you say Brand I think of a brand of clothing, what do you mean by that? I was reading up on it and getting slogans Trademarks or Sloganmarked (SM?) It looks rather like a tedious job, it has to pass all these tests. anyway do you think it is even worth it for a small business?
