undefinedWhat is the name of your state?

Hi I am a New Jersey resident and I purchased a descrambler cable box from Florida. It was sent back because it didn't work. I have no paperwork to prove it because it was in Jan of 2002. Comcast is charging me with this code: 47 usc 605 & 47 usc 533. These laws have no specific statute of limitations (federally) My Question is what is the statute of limitations on telecommunication theft (cable theft) in New Jersey?

OK, so Comcast has evidence of attempted cable theft. They can try to assume that your attempt was successful and that you did in fact steal cable. That may or not work - talk to a lawyer.

Are you sure you can't provide any evidence that you didn't return the item? Was the purchase credited on your credit card? Any e-mail records of your conversations with the company? Did you eventually purchase any premium services from Comcast that would have been descrambled by this box? If Comcast got your name from that FL company, then that company should have records that the unit was returned.

As to your original question, since you are dealing with federal laws, any SOL in NJ doesn't matter.
