i live in california. i was receiving social security benefits because my mother was receiving benefits. i continued to receive benefits until i was 19 because i was still in school. i am about to graduate from school which allows me to study through a private school at home (paid by a sponsor). my mother still supports me and i have no income. during the time from my 18th to my 19th birthday i was sent letters to verify my schooling and i informed them that my start date had changed to a later date. they then sent back a letter saying i would continue to receive benefits until my 19th birthday. social security has now informed me that i was overpayed. during the last week i sent them a letter telling them that i had previously informed them that my start date changed. now they want me to fill out another form acknowledging that i was to blame for the overpayment, include my living expenses and go to an office and speak to someone who will reconsider my case. i never questioned the continuence of my benefits because they had received the information of any changes. should i seek professional help or does any have any advice concerning this matter?

thanks
