i am an american living in the philippines and would like to divorce without going back to california. my currant wife is also an american citizen and residing here. what do i do?

My response:

I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that Philippine law does not recognize or allow divorce. As such, and because the United States Constitution or its other laws do not follow you to a foreign country, you have only two choices:

1. Stay married in the Islands, and live apart.

2. Both of you come back to the United States to satisfy the residency requirements of the State you will be living in, and then file for divorce.
