What is the name of your state? AZ
The employer I am currently with has me as the First person to contact if our alarm goes off because I am the closest to the Office. Our normal business hours are 8-5 Monday - Friday. If I am called in on Saturday and Sunday to go through the building with the cops am I entitled to be paid at time and a half or just straight pay?
Next Question
How do you figure out when overtime starts? Is it after 40 hours or is it after 8 hours per day. I had my own Glass company and the accountant always told me that you had to pay over what ever is after 8 hours per day. My current employer says it is after a total of 40 hours per week. I wanted to know what it actually is.
Thanks in advance

In your state, and in most states, overtime is after 40 hours in a week. Two of the three states that require overtime over 8 in a day are neighbors of yours, California and Nevada, which may be where the confusion comes in.

You are not due time and a half for checking the alarm on Saturday or Sunday unless that time puts you over 40 hours in a week. The law does not require a premium for working Saturday or Sunday.
