calling me a thief

What is the name of your state?texas

I worked for a woman that is, well, not really all there....anyway, I did everything for this woman, helped with kids, personal errands, you name it... She came into the office one day and said "this is business not personal, I have to let you go" I said ok and left. I don't speak to this woman ever... she let go another person there and told her that the reason she fired me was because I stole $50,000 from her....come on. I heard this and I called to ask the woman if she said it and she said I am not talking to you, and would not answer me, I told her I have heard it more than once and she still would not say anything to me. She hung up on me and I called her back. In the end I called the office and said that she would be receiving papers within 2 weeks....she is very non-confrontational. What do I do now....If I write a letter of warning, she would be scared and stop, however, it has to look legal.... what do I do?

Supposedly she states that you stole 50K yet has not called the police or done anything other than "let you go"???
Just wait it out, she has done nothing actionable yet....
Why did you not ask her why she let you go, instead of just walking away?

she told me it was business and not personal....she would not say anything more than that... she owns a salon and has many clients that know me from there.....i am in a small town and I don't want to have people thinking that I stole from this lady.....can't i just find some letter of warning or something....

It sounds like she is getting a restraining order against you because you keep calling the office, harassment, that is confrontational. How much truth is there to her claims? While you may not have stolen $50K did something happen to cause her to suffer a loss of some sort for which you might have some responsibility? She doesn't have to give you a reason for terminating your employment and your continued interaction with her customers re it could be fueling the whole subject.

you make a good point

you make a very good point, however, I am not interacting with her clients unless they speak to me first in a public place...i am not calling or having any contact with any of them....i am not harassing her...i have called her 2 times.... and left a message 1 time... i will not contact her again.... she really has no reason to file a restraining order...
