What is the name of your state?tx
I owe about $500 to a bank ,say Bank A in overdraft and NSF fees. If I open a new account at another bank, say Bank B, will Bank A have any access to my funds in Bank B?

Thanks

Nope, but when bank B finds out about bank A, you will not be able to open an account or if you have an account, it will be closed without notice. It will be quite a surprise when checks start bouncing and both banks are after you.

Yep, its called Chex Systems, and if you owe Bank A $500 you WILL be reported, and Bank B will either deny your account or close it once you are reported.

Pay the money you owe and don't be such a dead beat!!!

The other posters didn't get what you said I see. Evidently you already have another account. No, they have no access to your other funds. Complaint to Bank A and check out www.bankfees.info on more information on this OD fee scam.

From my experience, and I live in Texas, we owned 600 dollars in nonsufficient funds to that Walmart First Convenience bank. We really needed a check book so that we could pay our rent every month in checks rather than running around for money orders and all, so at the suggestion of a friend opened a bank of america account.

We did no overdrafting or nonSF on BoA, but began to pay off our old FC account through small 75 -150 dollar payments each month. THey hounded us constantly to pay them quicker and all, but we really couldnt afford more than that. Around 400 dollars remaining they closed the account and it went to -their- collections agency. No interest charged, and we still ended up simply paying them our 100 dollar a month payments. In the end it worked out for us.

This happened last summer, so I'm not sure if anything may have changed in the course of a year, but its possible.
