Can a child custody order be enforced in any state?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wyoming

I am planning on a move to my home state of Texas in a few months and would like to know if the custody order I have (from Wyoming) can be enforced in Texas and, if so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks for any feedback.

You need permission from the court to relocate. If it is granted, the current order can remain, no need to file in the new state unless something needs to be changed at some point in the future.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. I am the non-custodial parent, however, and the CP moved away with child eight months ago. Since then, it's been a waking nightmare. We have joint legal, but ex treats everything like he has sole custody, i.e, missed visitations, missed phone calls, my name not being on any medical or daycare records, ex ordered to talk to me concerning son's welfare every Thursday evening for ten minutes (hasn't spoken to me in five months) etc.

I've wanted to try and modify custody, but lawyers want at least a $4000 retainer and I simply don't have it. Therefore, I am taking the approach of modifying visitation since the order was created when both parents lived here in Wyoming. But I want to make sure, when I move back to Texas, the order can be enforced without having to come back to Wyoming. Thanks!

Is this going to be a long-distance plan?

If so, make sure you get into the details:
1. specify phone contact - how often, minimum amount of time
2. look at "virtual" parenting time, including webcam access, instant messaging & emailing
3. be specific on the travel arrangements, including WHO is responsible for the costs.
