What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Michigan
I did move into a hotel. My landlord (Lodging Solutions) subcontracts certain floors from the hotel. Presently there seems to be no legal owner of the hotel because of finance problems.

First of all Lodging Solutions received only month to month rentals from long term tenants. The hotel received payments for the ballroom rental and short term guest. It seems to be the owner left early this year because of the problems the building inspector given the hotel. The hotel is $200,000 to $400,000 behind in taxes. The hotel did go bankrupt in 2006.

After it appears the owner left, the hotel employees left also. Now everything (ballroom rental, short term guest and long term guest) are made out to Lodging Solutions. It seems like Lodging Solution, the hotel manager and the previous owner is operating the hotel illegaly. A few workers are now working in the hotel. The checks are from Lodging Solutions. Every worker is a contract employee. When the owner first left, the hotel workers were getting paid under the table until the checks came from Lodging Solutions.

Presently, I am behind in rent. There is mold in the building. Two times my landlord put my credit card thru as payment without my permission ($200 and $70). I already made a police report, and corrected it with my credit card company. Two times when I was behind in rent, the owner of Lodging Solution refused to give me my mail, (all mail is given to the front desk by the mail carrier).

Even though it is a hotel, everything is ran as a ghetto apartment building. Several times the landlord locked long term tenants door for being behind in rent. After the police arrive on scene from the tentant calling a police officer, the police tell the owner of Lodging Soulution she must reopen the tenant's room.

Presently, a few tentants are behind in rent. Some have been behind for several months. It seems they have not been evicted because there is no owner of the hotel building. Recently, we received a summons to come to court. The paper in titled "Summons" "Land-Tenant/Land Contract". There is also a plaintiff's attorney on the paper.

Does the sub-contracor have the right to make a eviction, or must it be a building owner?
