[I'm not sure if this is in the right category so I'm sorry if not]
I live in California. One night at my boyfriends house, we were drunk and apparently I "sleepwalked" my way into his roommates room and urinated in the room and on a handful of posessions.

I have no memory of it and I have never had this incident before. I think it's somewhat shady.

He and his roommates had signed a contract saying that any guest causing damages would be responsible for monetary compensation of those damages.

I personally feel that the estimate he gave me was way too high, especially when there is no proof from what I did and what the dog in the room has done.

According to my boyfriend, I have to pay this amount to avoid being taken to small claims court. I don't want to go to court.

However, my question is this. The two guys living in that room have been going around telling everyone, slandering and defamating my character. I have a screenshot of a somewhat libelous comment being made by one of the plantiff on my boyfriends profile.

Can that be used to help negate this supposed contract?

The contract doesn't apply to you, since you were not a party to the contract.

With that said, of course you will have to pay for the damage you caused!
