What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arizona,

hello, my friend and his family came to the united states legally in 2000, their visa expired in 2003 but they have remained to live here illegally, over the past year his mom tried marrying a citizen to gain permanent residence so the whole family can work and go to college but something went wrong and now they are supposed to show up in court and possible deportation. they cannot afford a lawyer and are good people who have never broken the law. is there any thing they can do to avoid being deported?

I sense conflict in your post.

What Mom did was illegal. She broke the law.

She may have ruined any chance she had of adjusting status. And no, she is not a law-abiding immigrant. Tell your friend's Mom she needs an attorney, and she needs one quickly. There's very little anybody else can do without actually seeing her records.

Marrying for an immigration benefit alone is against the law.
