I found what I assumed was stolen property, in my 16 YO sons room, and researched it and found the person it supposedly belonged to. I returned what I had found along with my son to the property owner who informed me that he was not the rightful owner and that he had left all the electronics at his open home, in process of building, and that he thought the original company had come to get it. The Company owner had told me that it was the property owners electronics and that he had nothing to do with it. Anyway, the stuff was returned, except for a couple of small items that another 16 YO kid still has or pawned off...don't know which. The property owner thanked me and said he was not worried, it was only a couple of thousand dollars worth...quote! Well, the Local Police now say that charges will be pressed against my son. There is no evidence, and there wasn't then either...no one found it but me and I returned all the stuff I found. I live in WA. State. Can anyone press charges without evidence?

I would be willing to guess the owner of the property filed a report with the police and will probably be willing to state under oath in a court of law that you returned the merchandise your son had possession of. That about $2,000 worth of evidence. I would suggest you hire your son an attorney.

get hold of the person you returned the stuff to and ask what it would take to satisfy him or the company and work it out-that son of yours could do alot of cleaning at the job site
