when i filed for a divorce a month ago, my attorny and i filed a temporary protective order against my husband due to the fact he was verbally and physically abusive towards the kids and i.. on the protective order it stated that i have temporary custody of the kids, temporary use of the marital residence and use of the vehicle.. even though the vehicle is in his name.. can he tell me where i can go with the car? i'm getting ready to go to PA in a couple of days to visit a friend and my soon to be "ex" is telling me i can't take the car out of state.. can he do that??
thanks for any advise
PS. my attorny is aware that i'm leaving state for a week and does have the number to where i can be reached

Barring any order from the court re your leaving the state, or taking the vehicle from the state, you should have no limitations. Since you have an attorney who is familiar with your case and knows you are planning the trip, they could answer this question as well.

Sounds like you are married to a "controller" who doesn't want to give up. The fact that the vehicle is in his name only says a lot in itself. Be prepared for other intrusions by this control freak, and exercise that protection order anytime he violates it!
