I am the mother of a four year old and I live in Michigan. About two months ago I decieded that I could not take any more and I left my husband. The reason I left instead of him leaving is because I knew he wouldn't because this is his family house we live in. I did not take my son with me because I have to live in a camper until I can get on my feet. I also thought it would be better on him if I did not uproot him from his home with all the changes he has to deal with already. My ex has said he will get me for abandanment even though I go to our house almost every day to visit my son.Can he do that? If so is there any suggestions you may be able to provide me with?

No he cannot get you for "abandonment" - how is visiting your child daily abandoning him? Especially when you are only resigned to visiting to keep the son in the home he knows. You are truly acting in the child's best interest and I think you should go for full custody as soon as you have your new home sorted. Your ex is trying to make you think you have done wrong. You haven't. Good luck.

My cousin is in practically this same situation in Alabama. Can her estranged husband get her for abandanment?

1. Please don't necropost - this thread is TEN YEARS OLD!

2. Please have your cousin sign up - there are going to be questions, and you likely won't have the answers.

3. Once she does, she can start her own thread.

Thanks!
