I owe my landlord about three months back rent. He has been real kind in letting me pay it off weekly with no interest added to it. In January 2008 he said I had till the end of March to pay it all off. Well the end of the month is almost here and I will need another couple of weeks to pay the last of the back rent. I was told by a lawyer several years ago that if you are making an attempt to pay your back rent that the landlord has no right to evict you. Is that still true?
Thanks for your help, Lynn Clark.

Take a second job, take in ironing, cut down expenses - pay the rent. Your landlord has given you a break and a DEADLINE.....you failed your end of the bargain if you don't pay as you agreed.

The lawyer is wrong .

Perhaps what the lawyer meant was , if the LL accepts partial payment for that months rent , he can not evict you in that month .

I'm curious to know if in a couple of weeks you can guaranty all the back rent PLUS April's rent in full ?
