i've been unable to find work for almost 4 years now, in part because of the terrible slander my ex husband spread around about me. we were divorced in '97. i have gone through most of my inheritance just to pay bills and live simply, but at this point i'm almost out of money. i signed over the title to my house in january to my brother, and own nothing else of value. i owe state, federal taxes from last year, and now am behind on utilities. the gas co. is shutting down my service this wednesday. the police tell me that they can't help because 'no crime has been committed', the lawyers (4 of them) couldn't find a legal avenue to address the problem and now i'm facing the financial unknown.i had an 'a' credit standing until this all started. my question is 'can i be forced into bankruptcy, even though i don't want to do it?
thanks for any help you can give me.
