He was in the process of a divorce and was having health problems (afraid he may die before divorce was complete) and wanted to make sure that she and or her family didn't get it in the event of his death

and your Grandfather might want to google "penalties for hiding marital assests", often found alongside "ways to annoy the Judge".

Grandfather deeded property to me. When my aunts and uncles found out they freaked. Now my Grandfather wants me to deed it back to him. Can he legally force me to? He's gotten an attorney.

So the spouse never deeded any marital interest they may have had? Congrats. You may now own the house with his STBX, and are subject to any property division the judge may have imposed.
