I am being sued by an ex-friend for monies paid on an auto for 6 months ( I took back the car because she could not get financing in her name). I received notice that I have to appear for mediation in October on a Wed. which means I will have to miss work. If it gets scheduled for a court date-I will have to miss again. I would like to know if I can hold her responsible (possible counter-sue) for missed days even if I use vacation time for it. (which I would rather save for my own use-but cannot afford to have my check shorted by a day)

YOU CAN SUE FOR ANYTHING
You can sue for anything, but you won't win this one. Unless you had an agreement otherwise, missed work is generally uncompensable in most states (where are you??).
