Here is my problem. Two weeks ago some pictures surfaced in my hometown. Private pictures. These were tucked away in a file on my computer. The file shaing was set up to NOT share things like this and my anti-virus has a built in firewall.

After a week of poking around and going down the line to find who had gotten a hold of the pictures I got the name of the guy. He use to work for my local cable company and installed my cable and my internet cable. As far as I heard there are about 5 or 6 pictures out. However this guy quit the cable company and moved to Arizona 3 months ago. (from Minnesota) I am not sure if he used access codes he had gotten from my personal information or if he got into my computer while he was in my house doing the installations.

The cable company is doing an internal investigation to see what they can find out and to track the guy down. I am not mad at the people in my town for passing pictures around to them it was just another e-mail to pass along. But, I do feel very violated that someone who was in my home had to violate my trust and privacy.

I've looked at defamation cases and libel cases but don't know if I can do anything or if it even worth it to get a lawyer. Tell me what you think.

If this is really important to you and you have $20k to spend on lawyer fees to get a judgment that probably will be uncollectible, go right ahead.

O.K. that was blunt. I am just curious how someone violated my privacy with the tools from the cable company therefore breaking their "cable privacy act" and you tell me there is nothing that I can do about this when it is a total and completely humilating thing to walk around in my town? I realize I can't really get the guy for anything but the cable company is responsible for the "leak" of information aren't they? Shouldn't they take some responsibility for the situation?
