What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kentucky.

Good day, I am interested in obtaining a real estate license in the state of Kentucky as a possible career change. Thirteen years ago I went to court for and pled guilty to several bounced checks which resulted in fines that I paid in full, and I have had no other problems with the law since. I currently work for a company that operates at an airport (one of the major US package shippers) and submitted finger prints for a background check.

Will this prior history of misdemeanors prevent me from obtaining a real estate license in Kentucky?

Thank you in advance for any input anyone can provide.

According to the information I found at http://krec.ky.gov/licensingdepartment/cbc/Pages/default.aspx, they will only go back 5 years...

For anyone else reading this;

Financial Crimes, and Real-estate Crimes as well as any other Crimes indicating FRAUD can stop licensing relating to real-estate. Bk's, felonies, and foreclosures can also stop licensing for real-estate/mortgages etc (in various states)

Other types of misd/civil infractions are looked at less severely.

It does appear they are only looking back 5 years so they will most likely clear YOU. :)
