I am currently staying at a homeless shelter and I think that one of the management is discussing his opinion of details of my station in life with staff and whoever happens to be in the room at the time. I have been a client at the shelter for five years and have been paying nightly $1 to stay there- the time that I have been staying there I have paid over $500. I am wondering do I have a right to ask for a refund for not respecting my privacy when it also may be the situation that they turn clients away for reasons that aren't stated in their program rules because the rules apparently change depending on the person?
Amongst other things are that this shelter says we clients are making a donation in order to sleep in the shelter, but the money is required, whether you have the money or don't if you want to sleep there.
The state where this is going goes on is California.

I honestly think you should have a mental eval if you have been staying for 500 days, not improved your situation, and take offense when they discuss whether you are not the target purpose they have which is to assist people in getting on their feet, not providing cheap rent. They will likely be evicting you soon to make room for someone with some desire to better their station in life.
