What is the name of your state? new york

I bought a 1993 toyota pickup with 108,080 miles on it for $2,300.00 on march 31 2008. the used car dealer had the car inspected the day before and he told me it passed with flying colors. On april 2 I brought the car to a repair center to have the alignment done, I knew it needed it. the service repair shop told me that he could not align it because the car had a broken leaf spring and the frame was severly rusted,. He also stated that truck should have never passed inspection. He then advised me to bring the vehicle to spring repair shop. The spring repair shop told me that the truck was not safe to drive and that it would cost 1200.00 to fix the leaf spring and the frame and cross member. he also stated that the brakes were no good because the dealer fixed a ruted line with a compresion fitting. This would have never passed inspection in any place in NY. Its only been 4 days since I purchased it. I called the guy several times and he said the car was fine and that it woiuld make to California and back. Do I have any recourse to getting my money back?

thanks bobby

did you buy this from an individual? did you by it "as is"?

did you have the opportunity to take to be looked at by a repair shop of your choice before purchasing it?

I have a 93 Toyota pickup with 147,000 miles on it. still runs and drives great. As far as the mechanic telling you what is wrong, he is in the business of making money by fixing cars, not telling folks that the 15 year old vehicles are ok to drive. By putting the "fear of eminent harm and loss of life", he does a good job of bring business into his shop. Have the vehicle inspected by other mechanics, I would guarantee they will find other problems. Fix what you want and enjoy the truck, it should still last for many years to come.

Wasn't knocking the car, per se. The point I was making is that a 15 year old car with over 100,000 miles will not have any "special" protection.
